Terms
The terms for using Backstride, a simulator for practicing trading on historical market data.
Updated
These terms apply when you create an account on Backstride or use it. By doing either, you agree to them.
A simulator, not a broker
Backstride replays historical market data so you can practice. No order you place is sent to any market, no real money moves, and nothing you see is an offer to buy or sell anything.
Not investment advice
Nothing on Backstride, including the blog, is financial, investment or trading advice. Results in a simulation, however carefully modeled, do not predict results in live markets, where liquidity, slippage and your own behavior differ. Decide what to do with real money yourself, or with someone qualified to advise you.
Market data
Historical prices come from a third-party provider and may contain errors, gaps or adjustments. We model fills and costs as described on How it works, but we make no promise that any simulated fill matches what a real market would have given you.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not use Backstride in a way that breaks any law or regulation, to overload or attack the service, or to scrape the market data it caches.
Using the content
The charts, market data and everything else on Backstride are here for your own practice. Do not use any of it for commercial purposes, such as republishing it or building a product on it, without first getting the license that use requires.
Changes and availability
Backstride is offered as it is. We may change, pause or discontinue features, and we may update these terms. When the changes are significant, we will say so on this page before they apply.
